Pathways to Juvenile Detention Reform
This series of 15 publications was produced to capture the innovations and the lessons learned from the experiences of three of the original JDAI sites – Cook County, IL, Multnomah County, OR, and Sacramento County, CA. Each but two of the monographs covers a key component of detention reform.
JDAI Practice Guides
This set of guides offers practical instructional materials on how to implement successful reform strategies and best practices. For example, the Juvenile Detention Risk Assessment Practice Guide reviews contemporary juvenile detention risk-screening technology through the lens of experience provided by JDAI sites, and includes specific recommendations on how to design, test, and implement detention risk-screening instruments. The Detention Facility Self-Assessment Practice Guide includes a set of guidelines for conducting facility assessments and “how to” materials that offer recommendations regarding what documents to review, which people to interview, and what things to observe during assessments.
