Visits to these JDAI jurisdictions are arranged through the Technical Assistance Team Leader (TATL), in consultation with the JDAI Initiative Management Team. The JDAI model sites provide valuable learning opportunities for new JDAI jurisdictions by offering peer-to-peer exchanges. Visiting delegations observe and discuss the implementation of JDAI core strategies to safely reduce detention populations, minimize costs by using effective community-based alternatives, and decrease racial/ethnic disparities in local juvenile justice systems. Furthermore, the JDAI model sites offer practical examples and strategies for broader reform efforts, including a range of system and program improvements.
